Yassine Arrahil known as Ethnikman, is a sound engineer, music producer, DJ, a vinyl collector.
Yassaine was born in October of 1981, in Rotterdam,The Netherlands and raised in Marrakesh – Morocco, where his passion for traditional music developed. He started producing music at the age of 16, sampling tunes of 45 tours into the hip-hop style to produce tracks for early rap bands from Marrakesh, such as Mafatih Lakyoud, Dahmoun and the well-known band Fnaïre, comprising of Mc Achraf, Mc Khalifa and Mouhssine Tizaf. He recorded various tracks with the assistance of Khalil B.K. aka DJ Van.
Yassine’s musical journey led him to the psytrance/goa scene. His path crossed with that of DJ Younes B, ambassador of the nightlife in Marrakesh. That’s how Yassiin became fascinated with the electronic music, especially house and techno. Ethnic and world music has always been his great passion which was born after discovering his father’s vinyl collection which included the rhythms of blues, groove and classical Moroccan music.
Discouraged by the repetitive, soulless electronic sounds, he decided to infuse the electronic scene with genuineness of ethnic and North African rhythms. When producing his music, Yassiin tries to introduce the sounds from his memories into his own work.
Yassine is focused on ethno/ tech house, bringing colours of the Moroccan and ethnic vibes to the global house and techno scene.
